Drive By Bear...

Remember when Team MooBear dressed up as KISS!?

Well Bear still loves their stuff and by random coincidence the band happened to drive past our new place last week. Lucky I had my camera handy and the boys were more than happy to pose and pull faces for a photo or two.

KISS and Pixar Films... 2 of Bears favourite things EVER!!

My Creative Space...

My creative space has been inspired by the beautiful Isis.
She is calling on tea drinkers to contribute to a zine about Tea. I thought yep, I can switch from coffee to tea, get involved and have a bit of fun in the process.

If you think you have have something to offer you should definitely head over to her blog and contact her.

I needed to get into the right frame of mind. A quick trip to the treasure shop for a closer look at some tea sets had me along the right path of thinking. Have you looked at the detail of some of these tea cups??

They are so fragile and delicate. It felt so regal to hold one in your fingers.

While I was looking around I found two little egg cups and just had to buy them. For 10c each I couldn't say no. Someone out there handmade them and I needed to show my appreciation.

For some reason I felt like knitting... just a little bit though.

For more creativeness head straight over here.

Junk Lovin...

This is my latest road side rescue.

I noticed this the day we moved in. I even took a photo through our side fence. My neighbour was having a clean out and put it out the front. Jumping up and down I asked if I could rescue it from her and she was all for it.

I didn't even notice that the detailed humming birds...

There is something about wrought iron which appeals to me.
The rawness and details?
The texture and colour?
The timeless detail and handmade touch?

Isn't she wonderful.
Best of all there are 2 of them. The 2nd one is sitting outside the studio under the patio area.

So I can sit down the back yard with my afternoon coffee and watch the kids play happily.
I can sit and read my book which I am still reading.
I can do a spot of crafting out in the open.
I can take lots of product and creative photos with a new back drop.
I can sit and listen to Carlos produce some awesome sounds from the studio.

Check out who else is lovin' their junk over here.

A Hat...

Sometimes I need to just be randomly creative for no real reason or purpose.
Sometimes I see something and I just have to make it.
Sometimes I watchThreadBanger. I came across this tutorial.
I happened to have everything it required and set to work.

- scrap fabric
- cereal box
- tape
- Bubble

The result is a little bit funny, silly, pointless and probably completely useless until I make myself one... But best of all I managed to make something with instant satisfaction.

Do you like Bubble's new skirt? $4 with matching polka dot bloomers. BARGAIN!

I also picked up a hat for myself finally. I have always wanted a massive brim hat and I picked this one up for $2. I have the front pinned back using 2 of Isis' badges which I won last month. It's ridiculously huge and I love it!!

My Creative Space...

I am happy to announce that My Creative Space is back in full swing in my new studio. This week has been particularly crafty for me and I feel more alive and have been attempting projects I thought were way too hard for me. I can't wait to show you what I made for myself but it also means showing some flesh... hmmm. I think I might but not today hehe.

One of the things I did yesterday was visit our new local Treasure Shop in the hopes that they still had a bag of cotton stuffing I had seen earlier in the week.

... Instead I spend $2 on 10 craft magazines.
They haven't even been touched. I think I was more attracted to the glossy colour than the crafts themselves and I do like to sit a have lookie through magazines. Lets face it, sometimes the internet is a distracting vortex with time sucking properties.

I have also progressed to a level in my studio that I am happy to work with and around.

Projects that I have started and need to get finished are hung up so I can see them. The idea is that I don't start a new project until I have finished 2 that are hanging up. Then I replace the 2 that are hanging with the stash in the cupboard and continue. So far it's working out nicely.

A selection of coloured buttons which nearly went missing after Sarah visited. Gotta keep an eye on her now. Also my personally signed CD of the original Hi-5 gang. I think I was 18 when I first saw them...hahaha.

Crafty books with projects and inspirations galore.
So there you go... my little studio is cranking and my creative juices are flowing but if yours aren't quite there head over to Kootoyoo as I am sure something will inspire you there.

Junk Lovin...

So here it is!! My very first instalment of Junk Love. I have been thinking about what I can show you all and decided on these rare items. Well maybe they aren't so rare but my kids sure don't know what they are...

Lens cases.

I grew up with these as my Dad is a photographer. These were a road side rescue about a year ago. I originally had them sitting in Carlos' studio in our old place. They were waiting for something wonderful and exciting to happen to them but with my creativity a little stifled their endless possibilities weren't recognised until a week ago.

Don't you think they would make great little handbags...
Jewellery keepers...
Pen caddie...
Fairy home...

I would love some more ideas...

I also discovered they make great stands for my Over It! rings as well as a conversation piece while at the markets.

If you have a special piece of junk that you just love you should share it with us here!!

Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves..

My little sister Sarah came over on the weekend. We now live about 20mins apart so no more 10mth breaks between visits. She and Dad dropped off their spare lawn mower. Something we kinda overlooked when we moved in because we never had a grassy yard in Sydney. It's so new and exciting that the kids all site at the back veranda watching eagerly.

Sarah showed off her 17th Birthday goodies to me. Among her gifts were a grey pair of flats.

"Sarah I have the perfect gift for you and your new shoes!" I yelled jumping up and down.
"Really?" Sarah questioned.
"YES... really!!" I confirmed.
"Like totally?" She questioned once more.
"Totally..." Arh the conversation with a teen is simple and totally easy.

I totally whipped up 2 matching yoyo brooches on the spot. Perfect and adorable... Just like you Sarah!!

While I had her over I asked her to model some adult MooBear shirts which had been on my 'to do' list for quite some time.

My Creative Space...

Guess what? I tried some crafting of a different kind... My Creative Space was spent at a new friends house. Here's the story...

Moo's first day at a new school meant she didn't know anyone. Carlos and I were really worried about Moo's reaction to the whole experience but after we watched her find a chair and talk to another girl in her class we breathed a massive sigh of relief.
"She'll be fine!" we both said in unison.

She really was. Moo's first friend's name is Jessie and she wore her normal uniform the following day knowing that Moo didn't have a sports uniform just so she wouldn't feel left out!! Can you believe that? I get goose bumps every time I tell someone how special Jessie is.

SO... concentrate Steph!! Jessie's Mum invited me over to a card making party. Like a tupperware party only you make cards of course. This is something I have never done. I dabbled in a bit of scrap booking way before it become popular but that was the only reference I had.

I made 2 cards. This one is for Carlos. I wrote what I was feeling in the moment... I think Carlos is an amazing man and just when I think I know all there is to love he surprises me with something new... I love you baby!!

You might think it's a Valentines but we don't celebrate Valentines Day. We feel it's all commercial driven by large companies to sell fluffy toys made in china and horrible tasting chocolates which come in copious amounts of packaging among other things... Where is the love in that?

I do love to see how people show one another their love. I don't mean to sound like a Valentines Day Scrooge. I have seen some really lovely handmade gifts out for Valentines which just make my heart melt...

Don't get me wrong though Carlos and I celebrate our love for each other regularly without having to go to those extremes.

This is the 2nd card. It has a snow globe like feature window that is a little bit awesome I think... This card is just for me to keep...

...and make my suitcase look pretty. I was tired of finding nappies, wipes containers and tissues around the house and thought they would look much nicer placed together in a vintage suitcase. Bubble hasn't figured out there is a handle yet...hehe.

I think my creative space may have momentarily become my creative writing... So head over to Kootoyoo for some seriously creative crafting...

Boy Band Of A Different Kind.

Sometimes having sisters can be a lot of fun.
Bear asked for his own custom made head band and this was the end result.
Proud much Bear?

Just Praming Around...

Bubble and I have been getting into some of my treasures I have had stored away from our old place. With our massive studio space I can have a lot more of the things that make my heart sing, out and on show.

One of my favourite pieces I bought from a treasure shop was this pram. Moo had just turned 2 when I bought it for $15... What a bargain.

So far Moo, Bear and Bubble have all used it as it has a sitting position as well. That there fast asleep under my first quilting project is a 2 day old Bubble. We took all 3 kids to our local park and had a wonderful picnic lunch that day.

Now Bubble is 16 mths old and can do far too many things. She'll climb into the pram, rock back and forth and wait for me, Moo or Bear to push her around the back yard. It even has the carry basket which attaches to the back of frame as well as the vinyl cocoon which buttons over the top.

The pram is still in perfect condition and I just love that it is all shiny and the vinyl has no rips or tears.

I rang Steelcraft and they said it was a limited run made back in 1980 in conjunction with another company. Hmmm.... I wonder what it will be worth in 20 years??

The only other thing I am on the look out for is a possible toddler attachment which fixes to the front of the frame then it would be complete. But for now I am content with my $15 old school pram...

For safety reasons I bought a harness which I attached to the pram. So no children have climbed out without me knowing about it hehe...

My Creative Space...

Well to be creative sometimes you need to explore your surroundings and find what makes you smile. So we went on an adventure which lead us up the mountain. We discovered a hidden park with an interesting piece of equipment which I had grown up with while the children didn't have a clue what it was.

Do you remember these?
Once I showed the kids what to do there was no stopping all 3 of them.

Our back yard is just full of unexplored wonder...

...and the smallest surprises.

I do believe I am yoyo obsessed. I went to Spotlight and bought the 'quick' yoyo maker. I tell you what it certainly is a lot quicker than I can do by hand and it gets the pleats PERFECT!!

After last week Bubble just assumes I am making head bands.

I am not too sure what I am making yet but once again Em's Stash has come in super handy.

I am off to check out Kootoyoo for more wondrous ideas and creative guineas... you should come too.
