Treasures And Special Order...

I just have to share this skirt I found at our local Treasure Shop (aka St Vinnies) I fell in love with it instantly.
1. It has skull and cross bones which appeals to my inner Punk.
2. It has a hand stitched pink, felt, pony which is just too cute...hehe. With a $2 price tag I couldn't say no.

Now I did say I wasn't doing any more one-offs or Special Order MooBear shirts but when my friend at Baby Cakes asked if I could do her an order for her new nieces and nephew I jumped at the opportunity. Luca, Julia & Tiana now have their own personalised shirts.

Their big sister Olivia also has her own personalised shirt.

Bring On Earth Hour!!

The Flag Is Complete!!

I know it's only something very small to be asked to hem a flag but what the flag represents and where it is going is really massive. It's such an easy thing do. Just turn off your lights for 1 whole hour. Everyone can do it and you can see the difference only an hour will make if everyone gave it a go. Imagine if everyone did it once a month or even once a week... or even left the lights off for an extra hour. It so simple it's crazy not too. So I urge everyone to find it in them to believe they can make a difference!! This is our Planet let's treat her with Love...

sshh... I even sewed the MooBear label into one of the corners. I rolled it up an sewed it in. You can't even tell but you and I know it's there... hehe.

Earth Hour...

I am really excited about Earth Hour this year (Last year we weren't home to participate). This years Earth Hour is extra special.
1. It falls on Bears 3rd Birthday
2. My very awesome friend Rebekah is part of the Sydney Earth Hour Team.
3. My Father in-law helped with some of the Spanish translating.
4. We all have our own Earth Hour shirts from Rebekah.
5. We have posters in our windows and stickers on our shirts.
and this is the big one...
6. I have been asked to SEW some of the Earth Hour flag which will be placed on the top of Mt Everest... How fantastic is that!! I am going to take so many photo's of the flag before it leaves my hands never to be seen by eyes again.

We've also registered MooBear Designs in the Sydney Earth Hour Event...

Speak & Spell...

WOW!!! Moo and I got up early to see what we could find at a garage sale down the road. The sign said "silk screening supplies" so we thought we might be able to get a screen to practice on... We did even better than that. We got 3 screens, heaps of paints, squeegee, some blank shirts and the "Simple Silk Screening" book. We were supper excited. Then as we walked out I saw a corner of yellow poking out of a basket. I don't know why or what told me to look but I pulled it out and my heart started racing. A "Speak & Read" I honestly couldn't believe my eyes it was in mint condition.

Now I should probably share with you why I was excited. Carlos makes music and a very long time ago he said if I ever found a Speak & Spell in my Op shop travels that I should pick it up because he can use it to mix in with his own music. We have come across a few but there were buttons missing, battery erosion and in general far too expensive to spend money on without a working guarantee.

SOOOOO... I looked further in the basket and Yep I hit the mother load. There was a "Speak & Spell" looking at me. It too was in mint condition and the lady only wanted $2 each because she didn't know if they even worked... BARGAIN!!!! So I bought them home to a very surprised and excited husband. The best part is...

MooBear Photo Shoot...

So we decided while the weather was so beautiful and sunny that we would race down the park and have a MooBear Photo Shoot! I made sure I had enough fairy stickers for wardrobe changes. We put the stickers on their tummies so they have to lift up their shirts to see them and so you can't see them in the photos... smart thinking!! This only a small peek at some of the designs we will be launching with in May. It's so exciting to be starting our business... and oh so frightening at the same time... But we wouldn't have it any other way!!!

Moo in her own Flower design.

Moo in her own Flower design and Bear in Moo's Tree Hugger design.

Bear in his own (with help from mum) Rar! design.

Rockin Out in their own one off designs. Moo's says Fairy Rainbow Fan which I made for her exactly 2years ago for her 6th Birthday. She'll be 8 years on Sunday...It all happens far too quickly now we have 3 children. Bear's shirt is based on one of the original designs I had in mind for a MooBear logo. So this is where MooBear Designs Started.
This is where we finish, head home hand in hand walking together, laughing together. This is what it means to be Brother & Sister!

The Wacky Wardrobe Photo Shot!!

What a wonderful day!! There could have been a little more sunshine but we had enough to work with. Helen from The Wacky Wardrobe come over and I completely inspired her after helping take A LOT of photos of her wonderfully hand made products. We met through Bizness Babes and clicked instantly and it's an unwritten Bizness Babe Rule that we all help each other out when called upon and I was more than happy to do so. Bear had an absolute ball playing dress ups in Pipi's Petal skirts, Hoop La La dresses and Animal capes. Carlos and I have requested adult sizes too. I thought I would include a couple of photos of Pipi's Petal skirts which are just too cute for words...

Some Wonderful Things...

This week has been a great week and it is only Tuesday night.
I have got some wonderful friends who are looking out for me. Brenda Girl bought over Brother Basil, her sewing machine to keep mine company and to have handy incase I need some extra help with our Moobear shirts.
My sewing machines name is Veronica. Then today Litsa Girl came over with her overlocker. I have wanted an over locker for 3yrs now and Litsa had hers sitting at home having only used it a handful of times. I have been given permission to give it a name. So if anyone has any suggestions let me know!! I love the look of it. It's very ME! Right down to the colour coded trail for each thread. Although where is the purple code? Hmmm...

On the family side of things Bubbles tooth finally popped through tonight. She was chewing on my thumb and bit down so hard it felt like a tiny little needle pierced my skin. Carlos couldn't see it yesterday when it was sitting below the gum. But while Brenda was here I got her too look and she verified my findings. "Thanks Girl".

While we were doing our bed routine Moo was entertaining Bubble by throwing her Care Bear in the air and catching it in front of her. I haven't heard Bubble laugh so hard for so long. I thought she would have been in tears a lot sooner but no she thought Moo was hilarious. In the end I'm not sure who was entertaining who. Needless to say I had a "proud mummy moment" just listening to them both laugh together.

My husband Carlos is fantastic. He is doing so much for our business & the lead up to Moobear's official launch. He and I make the best team ever. Husband & Wife, Mum & Dad, Managing Director & Creative Director.

And So It Begins...

Well it's about time I started my own blog!! For all you wonderful people out there who said "GET A BLOG" this is for all of us. Now that Moobear Designs is close to launching I thought this would be great way to archive Moobear Designs journey from my little hobby to world domination!! So to celebrate my new blog I made a banner. Of course it's made from all recycles materials right down to the binding. I'm looking forward to posting a few tutorials and showing you the wonderful world I live in... where things come to life from a scrap of fabric... where my children get craft crazy... where my friends wonder how I juggle all the things I do and still do it all with a smile on my face. So I'll ask you "Have you smiled a real smile today?"
